37 Weeks

37 Weeks! This picture was taken the day before we went to the hospital to be induced! It seems like forever ago. In reality it was three weeks ago tomorrow that the most exciting/terrifying day of my life. Being a first time mama I had no clue what to expect once we got the process started. That feeling of sheer excitement that our little one would soon enter the world and be in our arms very soon kept the fear of how she would enter seem very small. We were supposed to head to the hospital Tuesday night but got a phone call from the birthing center that afternoon saying that they were over their limit of patients and I would have to wait till the next morning to come in. Needless to say on the day of this photo, I was very anxious to get checked into our birthing room and start preparing for the birth of our baby girl!

Last days of our pregnancy!

Enjoying our last days together before we are officially mom and dad! It has been so nice spending time together and relaxing before our sweet baby girl arrives. We have been spending our days at home getting ready for the big day. Yesterday we decided to venture out for a little walk around the lake in Nashua and took a few maternity pictures to remember this special time.

Ultrasound!

36 weeks!

Happy Fall Y'all! The first day of fall is September 22! Which is tomorrow! I love fall and am so excited to have a future fall birthday to celebrate our little girl! Last week I got to spend some time celebrating our sweet God Daughters very 1st Birthday! We have the sweetest nieces and nephews and love getting to spend as much time with them as we can! We can't wait for our little girl to meet her best friends!
New this week, Grant has started his leave from work and has been taking care of me and some last minute projects before our addition gets
here ;) It has been really nice sleeping in together and spending some bonding time before our little sweetheart gets here! Just 3 more days until we head to the hospital!

I was so happy to find a low carb, healthier version of Pumpkin Muffins and they are so good! My only problem is that Grant keeps eating them all ;p Here's the recipe: Pumpkin Muffins. The only thing I change is that I don't use the cocoa powder (not a huge fan of chocolate).

35 Weeks

35 Weeks! Baby is the size of a coconut! She seems much bigger if you ask me :) We got to see her sweet little face at our ultrasound this week. I am so thankful that my mom was able to come up and go to the ultrasound with us! It is so amazing to get to see her world in my tummy. I can't wait until we get to see her everyday!
New for me this week is that I am now on my maternity leave. Since my blood pressure has continued to climb my Doctor no longer wants me to work. :( This has been difficult for me since this will take away some of the time I get to spend with our little girl after she arrives. It has however been really nice to get to sleep in and just relax at home!

Week 34

Happy Labor Day! Our labor day actually got moved up this week. After a very long visit at the Doctor's office Grant and I recently found out that I have preeclampsia. At first we were pretty bummed that there was one more thing to make our pregnancy more challenging but we have since realized that with the negative there is a wonderful positive that we can take from this experience and that is getting to see our little girl sooner then we had expected. My Doctor will be inducing me at 37 weeks. I will be checked into the hospital Tuesday, September 24.
This week I started reducing my work to half days and trying to stay relaxed during the day.
Baby girl is the size of a Butternut Squash. She is doing great and is a very active little thing! She keeps me entertained as I keep staring at my belly so I can catch her moves!

Handeling Gestational Diabetes

Anyone that knows me well knows that I am a very picky eater. That has made dealing with gestational diabetes even more difficult for me. I am so very thankful to have a supportive family to help encourage me. Grant has been great about trying to follow a similar diet as me and has really helped me make meals that are high in protein and lower in carbs.

For my diet I basically monitor my carbs and try to eat lots of protein. To break it down I can have 15-30g. carbs in the morning 30-60g. for lunch and supper and 15-30g. for two snacks during the day. I have to check my blood sugar first thing when I wake up, after breakfast, lunch and supper. I try to eat a lot of protein with each meal and have the above foods for snacks and breakfast. I have been feeling pretty good about my diet. I know it could still be better but it's what has worked for me.
